Just How We came to Such a State as This Without Really Trying......Part Ten
Road to Zion
I loved this new camp spot....made me feel as if I was on top of the world and looking down on the earth far below. Truly an amazing feeling. Even higher then where we were was a bluff that went straight up what seemed like a mile. On the top we could see machines and such..not sure what they were but that government man that I mentioned in the other section of The Road to Zion....worked up there. He said they observed, and tested and did all sorts of things (but he really never told us what)....he did say that they (the government) had sent rockets up into the atmosphere with animals to see how long they lived. This did not set too well with me...but whatever this project is I suspect it is just another way to spy on everyone.
There was a hairpin road that wound its way up to top but It looked a little too scary for me and decided that I did not want to make my way up it just to see and look down upon Zions park.. even though camping was allowed ...did not want to do it.
We had a problem with water...finding it that is...just like in the rest of Utah they do not provide water for campers anywhere. We were desperate and finally pulled into a car repair shop and asked them if we could have some. They said by all means yes and we were able to fill all our water bottles. What a great place and if we needed car repair while in this area I would surely take our truck here.
I finally decided that I really wanted to see my old college ...Dixie college (now university)....just had to see it and town of St. George and the other towns around it...I knew in my heart that none of it would be the same as I remembered...but I had to see anyway. Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllll yes it had changed ...in fact I did not know where I was at in St. George...so big now and so much traffic. It used to be a small town when I attended school here all those years back...and all the little farm towns ,,had all spread out and now they were all connected to each other. Was hard to tell where one town ended and the other began.
I had no idea where the school was from this mess of highways and buildings and had to locate the steeple of the temple that stood above most everything. From there I followed the road down to my old school. BIG change...the original buildings were still there but now surrounded by huge buildings and a stadium. The apartments that we had once resided had all been replaced by this monstrous, ugly four story building. It definitely had changed and not for the better as far as I was concerned.
So I went back to our little trailer on the bluff..kind of disheartened. That is when we found out a friend of sorts would be joining us. Greg who we had met up in Idaho decided to seek us out and join us here in southern Utah. Was not too sure that this was such a good idea but he had emailed us that he was coming. …..........................................................................
